Wolverhampton
racing driver Dean Smith and chartered accountants
Clement Keys are celebrating the young driver’s success in winning a
major autosport award that will take him a step closer to his dream of
competing in Formula 1.
Clement
Keys partner Michael Meakin has looked after Renault driver Dean’s
financial interests since he began racing cars in 2007 and is delighted
that he has become the latest McLaren Autosport British
Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Young Driver.
Michael
says, “Dean has extraordinary talent and this award marks him as a
talent to watch for the future.”
The McLaren Autosport BRDC Award has been won by a host of other
well known names who have successfully put
Great Britain
on the motorsport map. These
include newly crowned world champion Jensen Button, David Coulthard,
Anthony Davidson and Jamie Green, who is also a client of Michael’s.
Dean wins a cheque for £50,000, full membership of the BRDC, A TW
Steel watch, Puma race gear for a year and the opportunity to drive a
McLaren Formula 1 car. “Winning
this award will prove to be a massive springboard to Dean’s career,”
adds Meakin.“ It
is incredibly hard for young drivers to
raise the necessary finance to get them ahead in the sport, Dean
has worked hard and he deserves this opportunity.”
Dean earned his place as an award finalist by winning
the formula Renault UK Championship which is one of the most competitive
junior single-seater series in the world.
He hopes to graduate next season to the new F1- supporting formula
2 series. |
